Leo,

I have reading your blog for about a week now and I am finding it pretty interesting...at first I had a completely different impression, I couldn't quite get it...but I am starting to think that just for the fact that you are living there and reporting your experiences and adventures and the fact that you are making friends and you are friendly around your neighborhood, you are showing this folks an American as a real person, and by that I mean, you are dismistifying what they think of us...
In my opinion, you are doing a great job for the two nations, for the US and for Brazil, you are an embassador for us in Brazil.
You are definitely helping Brazilians understant better what Americans are, in other words, we are just like them, real people, just like them...
On the other hand, Americans who watch your videos and read your blog will learn a little bit more about Brazilians, and perhaps become less fearfull of foreigners...
Keep up the great work with your blog, love your videos.

PS: I am an American from Rhode Island who lived in Sao Paulo for many years, I am back in New England now.
The first time I ever saw a favela was through your videos...
Great job!

Take care

Thanks Ray. I truly appreciate the comments. At the end of the day, all I really know how to do is be myself, which is a self greatly informed by my American culture. Even though I am thousands of miles away from home, there is no escaping my background, my values, my world lens.

If I can in any way bring our two worlds a little bit closer, by "demystifying" the illusions of difference, then my time living abroad will have been well spent.

Cheers!

hey man, I don't have your email so I'm leaving a comment. please don't feel obligated to publish it if you don't want to as it's really not about your cool movie, I'll have to leave another comment about that. So hey- haven't seen you around the ol' capoeira lately (actually, I seem to remember that we only met once) just curious if you are coming out to the party that we are throwing on Saturday- would be nice to chat a bit and I think I'll leave the car at home so I can even knock more than one back... hope to catch up with you there- paz Russo/Markuza/Mark
