New Title

If my blog could have a Portuguese title, it would be this:

Desabafar!

This oddly sounding Portuguese word roughly translates as “to unburden”, “to get your feelings out”, “to free or relieve yourself of emotional stress or baggage”.

Gente, eu preciso desabafar! Eu estou mal!

People, I need talk! I feel horrible!

Desabafar is a perfect reflection of what this blog has always been to me. It is my therapy, my way to unwind and get my feelings out. Some people have commented on how good it is to read my blog when I am happy, and how difficult it is to slug through when I am sad. For the latter, I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do. Getting my words out simply feels too good, even when (no especially when) I am down!

A for the theme song…

Marcelo D2….take it away!

Leo, my friend, you are absolutely freakin right. You have to have the good with the bad, ying/yang, blues/sunshine! With the blues, if it doesn't kill you, it can only make you stronger, wiser and opens you up to appreciate the little things in life. For example, I sure can appreciate dancing to Forro while doing the Forro dance! You should have seen me (a gringo) at Lapa in Rio Forroing my bunda off! If it were not for the blues, we would not have the works of art or the accomplishments that we have, whether it be music, literature or whatever.

It’s not what you do when you get knocked down, but what you do when you get up! That counts.

And partying in Salvador with good people and friends, working on your anthropology degree sure beats sitting in a boring ass professor’s class on a cold day in Oklahoma.

Oh, and I want to visit that club to when I visit. At the church steps, is that the church were Geronimo and his band plays?

Yes it is. We went to the church last tuesday and caught Geronimo playing. Freakin awesome. We know the guys that own the pousada next to the steps, and sit out on their balcony like our own little camarote.

Speaking of partying in Salvador, we need to grab a beer when you come down. Now that's something you can ying yang your way to happiness to.

"To vent"! Ahhh that's perfect. I didn't think of that word when I was contemplating the translation.

Well done.
