What a day this has become!
After a year of looking over my shoulder…
After a year of living in the slums…
Of lost jobs and culture shock…
Of driving my little moto through the rain…
After robberies, and turn coats, and side swipes…
Of slamming the Portuguese into my brain…
I am a Brazilian!

Dear Leo,
We are glad to inform that the Brazilian Courts issued a favorable decision and recognized your right to a Brazilian nationality.
Please note that this decision will be effective within 15 days. After this period, we shall take such decision and the notification of the Federal Court to the Register of Persons in order to register your birth certificate, which will allow you to issue all other documents with the Brazilian authorities as a Brazilian citizen (ID, CPF, Driver License, CTPS, NIT – Social Security, etc).
Kind regards,
Your Lawyer

Leo,
Congrats, you are now an official "BRAZUCA"!
It is not a small thing, I have known people that stayed in Brazil for many years without any sucess of obtaining a citizenship.
Now you will have two passports and will be able to go back and forth as you please without the need of a VISA.
Ray
Well, I don't know if I should be happy or sad! Congratulations to you - I know you must be really excited. But come back to the states some time to see us, k? The little one must meet crazy cousin Leo...
!!!!
and to think i was there when it all began *tear*
congrats!
Oi Leo,
First off, congrats on officially becoming Brazilian. Meu nome e Pablo, sou dos Estados Unidos, mas moro em UAE. (I'm currently learning portuguese) Sorry but this is the only way I could think to contact you. I did a study abroad in 2004 to Manaus and to Salvador and instantly fell in love with the vibe and the people of Brazil. I will be returning for Carnaval next month in Rio and I'll be in Sao Paulo the week b4. I'm moving to Brazil at the end of the year basically to do the same thing that you did. I was online doing research one day and came across your blog. I've read your blogs from your first trip to Brazil, to going home, and your return. Ne way, long story short I'd really like to talk to you more before my move to Brazil. You can contact me at hotrod68camaro@yahoo.com. Tchau!
Hey Leo!
What's happening baby boy! It's good to hear you are in such good vibes! Your blogs are so much brighter and fun to read when you don't have the 'azuls'. And the pictures of Lençois, with the pools and the beautiful interior (coutry side) photos.
When I visit Salvador this year, that is exactly where I want to go. And while I'm in the interior I also want to festa at an old samba de roda jook joint. (Try translating jook joint into portuguese). So you can count me in
as one of your future clients.
I'm going to need your direct email to you, and I think I can just go to 'that other web site' and email you directly. I don't want to email to your work site because I am going to 'contract' you directly and pay you in dollars or ries, which ever you prefer.
It will probably be in the off season. So let's stay in touch so when I do go to Bahia, I'll know what to bring in the 'care package'.
Congratulations! That is exciting!!
How long did it take you to gain your citizenship?
Que bom, meu manu!
Agora vc vai poder ter a vida do que muito gente ta sonhando! Que pena que essa puta mato sua camera. Pasa bem, pasa mal, tuda vida e pasar!

Ray - Thanks man. Brazucão! Now I actually have three passports, which is sooooo James Bond.
Joanna - They call me crazy tio Leo. Teach them well.
Sheila - And you'll be there till the end, my long lost sister.
Pablo - Welcome man, I'd love to help. Send me an email to the address listed on my profile.
Jazztech - Care package! Dollars! You sure know how to make a brasileiro happy. Let's connect soon.
Mrs. S - Hey there darrrrling. It took me a little under a year, which in Bahian time, is light speed. Felt like forever, but I'm so happy the response was positive.
Larry - Careca...I miss you cabecadas. Your forhead is scary mean. ;- P
PLEASE EXPLAIN COMO VOCE CONSEGUIU ISSO! rsrs
quero saber, I heard there was a 'Lei de Estrangeiro' on the books in December, but I didn't think it was taking effect yet.
Can you email me to tell me what it took? I'm definitely looking to ganhar também.

but seriously, eu hein, writing that and having me read it right before I go to bed! Its attack of the Brazil bug...and as you know the Brazil bug gives the chills, only way to fix it is to head South!
Now I got a million possibilities running through my head...I'm vicariously living your life now.
Will Adam wake up to an answer in his mailbox? Is this the year Adam gives Brazil a second run for its Real? Does Jõao really love Maria? Tune in next time...
Leo
I dont see an email address on your profile. I'm not a member, so I don't know if thats it or I'm just blind. Either way can you email me at the address i gave so I have it. Thanks
