Yessssss! After six months of cold showers, I have hot water! It cost me about R$ 100, but was worth every last centavo in my zestfully clean opinion. You know, they may be baby steps but I love moving up in the world!
In Brazil, we mix electricity with water because frankly we are just plain braver than you.
Good Job! On demand water heater, that is what I need to get to save on my gas bill... That is so much more efficient than the old water heaters we have in Rhode Island. I wonder if you guys have codes there, we lived in Florida for 3 years, no code there, every one does whatever the heck they want, much different than New England, were not only you need someone that will use up to code standarts, you need to hire someone in the union... Enjoy your new "eco" friendly water heater!
It's true. I think I've halved my energy signature here in Brazil. And I wish I could say I did the wiring, but I realized that mixing water and hot wires without knowing what I was doing was a sure fire recipe to fry a gringo. Sometimes it's better to ask for help.
Akutyger, are you by any chance from Brazzil's forum? Long-time member? Living in the Northeast? I was active on that forum from 97-03, - Doido
Leo,
Don't forget the havaianas in the shower! Otherwise you could electrocute yourself. Also, does anyone understand the Verão/Inverno switch? Does Verão mean what season you are in or that you want warm water? lol. Showers take so long to heat up in Brazil that I never could figure it out.

So it heats the water in the shower head? That's pretty fancy! But up to code? Do y'all even have a code there? That must be the bravery thing.

But you realize you went most of the winter without hot water - that's a real man right there.
Did you do the wiring yourself?
